Whistleblowers

Notification about suspected breaches to the rules on the financial markets.

We accept notifications from individuals who, in a work-related context, would like to share information with FI about improprieties that are of public interest. A notification must refer to a concrete suspicion that a firm or an individual acted in violation of a regulation that is part of FI's supervision responsibility. In other words, this channel is not for complaints, questions, etc.

It is easiest to submit a notification via email or letter, but it is also possible to call FI and book a meeting in person. Provide a short description of the course of events and what you consider to be incorrect. Attach any documents that supplement your description. The more clearly you can describe the problem, the easier it is for FI to make an assessment of whether a breach has occurred.

As a whistleblower, you are entitled to be anonymous if you so choose. FI will not require you to identify yourself.

A detailed description of how to report suspected breaches to the regulations is available in the memorandum Så här anmäler du regelöverträdelser. This document is currently only available in Swedish.

If you would like to report a suspected breach of a regulation, use one of the following channels:

Email: visselblasare@fi.se if the notification refers to firms under FI's supervision or visselblasare.mar@fi.se if the notification refers to suspicions of market abuse. Send your email to only one of these email addresses.

PGP encryption

An email encrypted with PGP can only be read by recipients that have the private key that fits the public key used to encrypt the email. Encrypt the entire email, not only the attached files.

A PGP app must be downloaded to the computer to use PGP encryption. FI recommends the commercial PGP app from Symantec.
To send encrypted emails to visselblasare@fi.se, you need to download FI's key:

Letters: Finansinspektionen, Box 7821, 103 97 Stockholm, Sweden.
