About FI

Finansinspektionen is Sweden's financial supervisory authority. Our role is to promote stability and efficiency in the financial system as well as to ensure sustainability and an effective consumer protection.

We authorise, supervise and monitor all companies operating in Swedish financial markets. Finansinspektionen is accountable to the Ministry of Finance.

Finansinspektionen was established in 1991 with the aim of creating a single integrated regulator covering banking, securities and insurance. This was made possible through the merger of the former banking and insurance supervisory bodies.
